For the background information on the use of the Maule in this film, we went straight to the pilot who supplied the plane and did the flying,

Mark Futch of Boca Grande, Florida. Mark is typically the one Hollywood calls on when a Maule amphib or floatplane is needed for motion pictures.

He also worked on the Maule scenes in Speed 2.

The Maule floatplane lands in the Everglades.

According to Mark, this plane is a Maule M7-235 on straight Aqua floats. The location is the Florida Everglades. Mark worked on this picture for 21 days,

coordinating and setting up these scene with the film crew. These sequences with the seaplane actually required about 5 to 6 days of shooting.

The airboat chase!

Mark told us that the water in this swamp was never more than 6” deep.

The airboat chase!

The airboats were rigged with professional airboat drivers hidden under the seat area, while the actors merely “acted” like they were driving the airboats.

Their controls were non-functional, being only hooked up to bungee cords.

The bad guy plots his escape!

Actor Nick Brimble portrays the bad guy, Dekker Massey. For these scenes, Brimble, Glover, and Pesci actually rode on the airboats.
